What exactly is Krav Maga?
Krav Maga is the official self-defense and fighting system of the Israeli Defense Forces and U.S. law enforcement agencies. It emphasizes easy-to-learn techniques that have been tested in real, life-threatening confrontations. While there is nothing flashy about the system, it is highly effective, nonetheless.
What if I don’t have any martial arts experience?
No worries!
You don’t need any martial arts experience to start training in Krav Maga. That’s our job to train you in contact combat. The system is designed to take people with no previous experience and bring them to a level of proficiency fairly quickly.
How do I know if Krav Maga is for me?
Ask yourself what you are looking for. Do you want street self-defense dealing with much larger attackers, multiple attackers, guns or knives? If so, Krav Maga is for you. But if you’re not sure, give it a try to find out. Chances are you’ll love what it does for your body and mind’ and you’ll develop excellent self-defense skills.
Is Krav Maga for men only?
Not at all!
Krav Maga is taught to men and women who seek the best in self-defense and fitness training.
Are the classes hard and should I get in shape first?
Yes.
The classes are challenging and can be physically demanding but no, you do not need to get in shape first. Krav Maga is designed for everyone, regardless of fitness level. In fact, taking classes is the best way to get into shape. Our class format is created to push students but also allow them to progress and reach their goals at a pace they feel comfortable with.
Is there a ranking system for Krav Maga?
Yes.
Although belts are not worn in class, there are 6 levels in the Krav Maga system. Students start in level 1 as a beginner and progress to higher levels as they demonstrate their proficiency. Students must test to prove their competency and advance to the next level.
